Gillette Silver Blue Double Edge Razor Blades (pack of 5)
Stainless steel double edge blades from Gillette's St Petersburg production. Many wet shavers rate the Silver Blue a notch sharper than the Gillette Platinum while staying smooth, which makes it a strong choice for coarser growth.
Technical Specifications
- Type: Double edge
- Material: Stainless steel
- Coating: PTFE
- Pack size: 5 blades
- Fits: Any standard double edge safety razor
- Country of manufacture: Russia (St Petersburg)
Shaving Character
On Badger & Blade and The Shaving Room the Silver Blue is usually described as sharp and smooth, and is most often set against the Gillette Platinum: the common verdict is that the Silver Blue cuts a little more keenly and the Platinum is a little more forgiving. If you prefer a gentler edge, choose the Gillette Platinum Double Edge Razor Blades (pack of 5). If you want the sharpest edge you can get, the Feather Hi-Stainless Double Edge Razor Blades (pack of 5) is widely regarded as one of the sharpest blades available.
Use & Care
Fits any standard double edge safety razor. Hold the blade by its short ends when loading, keep the angle shallow and let the weight of the razor do the work rather than pressing. Rinse and shake the razor dry after each shave, and change the blade as soon as it starts to tug. Drop used blades into a blade bank such as the Leaf Recycling Tin rather than the bin.
Complete the Protocol
- Rockwell 6C Safety Razor - Gun Metal: an adjustable double edge razor to put it in
- Leaf Recycling Tin: safe storage for spent blades
- Gillette Platinum Double Edge Razor Blades (pack of 5): the smoother, more forgiving alternative
- Feather Hi-Stainless Double Edge Razor Blades (pack of 5): for maximum sharpness
