Safety Razors

A safety razor holds one double edge blade, and the head decides how much of it meets the skin.

  • Closed comb razors, such as the Merkur 34C, guard the blade with a solid bar: the usual first razor.
  • Adjustable razors, such as the Rockwell 6S, let you change the blade exposure as your technique improves, or between face, head and body.
  • Slants twist the blade to slice through dense, coarse beards. Best once your angle is steady.
  • Weight and material: stainless steel and brass razors carry more weight and do more of the work; aluminium razors, such as the Henson AL13, are light.

Every razor here takes standard double edge blades. Leaf razors take single edge half blades.
