What an idiot! After 7 years with my original chrome Merkur Futur, I managed to accidently knock it and let it slide off the bathroom sink to hit a radiator pipe. Sadly I had managed to damage it and chip the head and side blade bar. Quite light marks, but I just had to replace it to keep with my extensive range of pristine razors. The chrome version is particularly stunning – it’s certainly very well made and a joy use. Match with your favourite blade and then gently turn the handle to dial up or down this adjustable to find the level of aggression to suit. With sensitive skin I usual hover around levels 2 to 3 which results in a lovely BBS shave. Treat this beast with some respect and it will reward you. I know I’m going to be extra careful with this one to ensure it lasts for longer than the next 7 years. How do I know for sure? Well that’s easy, with such a highly polished beautiful chrome finish …..I can see into The Futur!

First impressions are fantastic

Firstly, let me say that my persuit of a better way of shaving whilst saving me money and reducing my ingrown hairs has resulted in two out of three objectives! This is my most expensive purchase so far and I'm glad I spent the money. I have the 34c, 37c, Muhle R41, plus some vintage razors and parkers, they always get a fresh blade per shave and the favourite until now is 37c with a feather blade. I used this razor on setting 3 with a rapira blade and spitfire soap & got the closest to a BBS shave in the 12months I have been addicted. The weight is comfortable and disputed the size of the razor & head - I had no problems getting close to the nostrils for those pesky strands I normally struggle with. The razor is worth the extra money and may relegate the trusty slant for a couple of weeks at least whilst I vary the setting & blade.
