Bristles are soft and keep their shape pretty well. Holds soap and lathers fine. But I dropped it on tile and the bristles came loose from the handle (which was surprisingly hollow) and it seems all that was holding it in was glue. I'd highly suggest spending an extra fiver on something more solid
